In my opinion, Psychotherapists need skill building and support in 3 areas:
My Supervision practice is theoretically integrative. I specifically teach and support psychotherapists in learning to be more experiential and relational in their practices. Along with these skills, I like to help other therapists learn and get comfortable with being more assertive and challenging with clients. Many therapists are wonderful listeners, but commonly overuse this strategy, which impacts their effectiveness. Other therapists are trained to make suggestions quickly without monitoring a client's willingness or motivation to take the therapist's suggestion. This group of therapists may need help in asking clarifying questions around motivation and changing the timing of when they intervene. Both of these types of problems end up making therapy frustrating for both participants.
Different theoretical backgrounds are welcome, while also maintaining a willingness to integrate new ideas and skills.
I charge $150.00 for a 45-minute supervision session or $200.00 for a 60-minute session.
- Have/sustain the ability to work within a cohesive theory, and create interventions that make sense for the client(s) in front of them.
- Have a way to discern whether their treatment is effective for their client(s) both in the moment and after session.
- Have a safe space to explore how their own current and past contexts are showing up with their client(s).
