Tyler Beach LCSW PLLC
I have trained, and continue to train a great deal.  I am an active member of a training academy, The American Academy of Psychotherapists (AAP), which is dedicated to enhancing both the skill and character of the therapist.  Members meet twice a year to sharpen and expand their skill set in both individual and group psychotherapies.  AAP requires a therapist to have had at least 2 years of their own personal psychotherapy (minimum of 100 personal therapy hours), have several current member recommendations, and to be voted on by the current Executive Council to join.

I make sure to do at least the equivalent amount of training in newer, more specific therapies. Specifically, I am trained in (or have been supervised in):

1) Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapies including:
  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP - Level III)
    • 3 Years Core Training, Essential Skills, (Assistant at Immersion and Essential Skills)
  • Weekly training/supervision with an expert in both AEDP and ISTDP, Steve Shapiro, Ph.D for 7 years (ongoing)
  • 3-Year Core Training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) with Allan Abbass MD and Joel Town, Ph.D
  • 1-Year of an Advanced Core Training in Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy with John Rathhauser, Ph.D and Jonathan Entis, Ph.D

2) Structural Dissociation. A rational and useful way of understanding trauma based disorders.  This theory can be applied to any psychotherapy approach.  I recieved individual supervision from one of the originators of this theory.

3) Third Wave Behavioral Therapies Including:

  • Although not a behaviorist, I've studied how to integrate the behavioral insights of Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP) into how I practice relational and experiential Psychotherapy.
